Joel 1 - 3 | A book of End Times Prophecy

The Book of Joel brought tears to my eyes instantly. There is something about taking the intentional time to unpack scripture verse-by-verse and sharing it with this community that leaves a lasting impact. I feel the living Word in my bones, in my heart and in my Spirit.

Joel 1 emphasizes the lack of Stewardship in the land of Israel causing it to wither away and be eaten by the worms. Because of the 'New Wine" Israel became lustful after false doctrine and iniquity. They became lazy and mislead, causing for their hearts to lack in joy and gladness.

Joel 2 is such an impactful chapter that creates so many remembrances in the teachings of Jesus. The day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night!

Joel 3 prophecies the Lord's judgement on the enemies of Israel, and what the Lord will establish when Jesus comes back!

I loved this morning's bible study Gillyan - the book of Joel is one of my favorites too and Joel 2 is so incredibly powerful. I also love how he's quoted in Acts & Romans (see below). And if you haven't heard of Left & Right Ministries - check out this tune! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CCppfIUhmQQ Joel 2 is quoted in Acts 2 during Peter’s Pentecost sermon.

Where Joel 2 is quoted in Acts

  • Acts 2:16–21 quotes Joel 2:28–32 (NKJV numbering).

  • Note: In the Hebrew text, this section is often numbered as Joel 3:1–5, which is why some references look “off” depending on the Bible edition.

Where else Joel is cited in the New Testament

Direct quotation

  • Romans 10:13 quotes Joel 2:32 — “Whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”

Strong allusions / echoes (not always marked as quotations)

Joel is a major source for “Day of the LORD” imagery, and the NT repeatedly echoes it:

  • Joel 2:10, 2:31 (sun/moon darkened; cosmic signs) echoed in:

  • Matthew 24:29

  • Mark 13:24–25

  • Luke 21:25–26

  • Revelation 6:12–14 (sixth seal cosmic disturbance)

  • Joel 3:16 (“The LORD also will roar from Zion…”) echoed in:

  • Revelation 14:14–20 and broader judgment-from-Zion themes (also overlaps with OT prophetic “roar” language)

Hosea 13 & 14 - A conclusion with an Impact!

Wrapping up Hosea with chapters 13 & 14 left me in awe.

I am always left thinking " Wait -- THAT'S IT?!" Lol.

We connected the Islamic idolatry connection in Chapter 13, but really this could apply to every false mega doctrine today!

In Chapter 14, we were left with a repentant Ephraim, and a warning for those who remain in the snare of their own sin.

Hosea 10 - 12 | Are We the Empty or Fruitful Vine?

Hosea 10 - 12 was an opportunity for us all to look inward, Starting with Chapter 10 describing Israel as an empty vine.

In Chapter 11, we reflected in the cross referencing of the Sower and the Seed parable taught by none other than Jesus Christ in Matthew 13.

In Chapter 12, we looked at how the disobedient LOVE to manipulate and oppress those who are obedient to the Lord.

Hosea 7-9 | The Trumpet Sound for the House of the Lord

Hosea 7-9 was riveting!

From the start of Chapter 7 - God will remember the iniquity that is not repented for in Israel in Judah.

To the Trumpet symbolism of Chapter 8 - The Sound of the trumpet for the judgement to come.

And finally hitting the nail on the head with Chapter 9 - The disobedience of Israel leading to the ceasing of the Biblical Feasts?! These chapters were very impactful and reminded me of how important obedience to the Father over temptations of the flesh truly are.

Hosea 7-9: What we Sow we will Bare!

There was so much symbolism in today’s study! From looking at the way that Judah, Israel, and Ephram are so similar to today’s cultures, to looking at the symbolism of the trumpets, their meanings, and what it looks like to have the trumpet of judgment!

We also saw that there is so much feast symbolism within chapter 9, and as we are in a dormant season of winter, taking notes on this symbolism will help us go into the feast, season stronger, and ready to serve the Lord!

What did you guys think? I will see you all on Monday morning!

Starting Hosea!

Wow, you guys!

From the assignment of Hosea to marry Gomer,

And their children representing multiple symbols of God’s prophecy and His promises,

There is so much to the start of these chapters!

Seeing how the last chapter ultimately ends in a prophecy of a new covenant and ruler ship is so cool as well! These minor prophets so far are certainly not minor at all!!

Let me know your thoughts, and use this link to catch up:

I am so exciting to start this Bible study of the minor prophets. Thank you for hosting and leading it. I have watched today's twice already, but I think I need one more. I would like to study a bit more on the history side. I think I need some sort of history timeline. Sometimes, I wish there was a Bible version or commentary that pieces the Old Testament chronologically in lieu of reading every book till the end. Some sort of guide. Like, if this is happening in Kings what is the corresponding Chronicles chapter and who was the prophet. I am not sure if I am explaining myself. English is my second language, so please be patient with me as I put in writing my thoughts. What is a good source for this kind of request?

I can see Gomer in me. G-d is so patient and kind to me. He forgives and restores me continually. I feel ashamed for the falls I take, then commit to start all over again. I keep faith that He will never leave me and will continue to work in me. This encourages me.

Thanks again, dear Bible Study family.
